Mr. Sunil Kumar Pokhrel has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Civil Bank. The bank has appointed him with effect from July 4. A meeting of the bank’s board of directors held on June 11 appointed Pokhrel as the CEO for the next four years.
He had been the chief executive officer of the bank for some time. After Govinda Gurung resigned from the post of chief executive, Pokharel was given the responsibility of acting chief executive on April 30.
Mr. Pokharel was Acting CEO before becoming the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Pokharel, who started his banking career in 1991, is an experienced banker.
He worked for 19 years at the then Grindlage (now Standard Chartered) Bank, then at NIC Asia for about 5 years, at Nabil Bank for one year, at United Amara Bank in Myanmar for one and a half years, and at AGD Bank in Myanmar for another year and a half.
