Employees in the banking sector have started protesting against the social security fund. On Tuesday, employees of Nabil Bank, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, and Machhapuchhre Bank staged a sit-in protest in the office premises with black banners.

Employees from the bank to the insurance company are dissatisfied saying that the fund has pressured and threatened them to join the fund in such a way as to reduce the benefits. They have been warning of legal action as well as nationwide agitation if they are forced to join the fund. However, the fund has been claiming that the social security program has not been provided as much as claimed by the agitating parties.

As the dispute between the fund and financial sector employees is escalating, some bank employees have gone on strike today. One of the banker said that they had to protest after repeated talks with the Social Security Fund to address their demands. He also said that the Nepal Financial Institution Employees Union will announce the agitation program tomorrow.
